Freeze | Monday Playlist

There are few things worse than a cold toilet seat first thing in the morning. I mean it was hard enough for me to get up, let alone for me to sit on an unrelenting throne of ice for an excruciatingly long few seconds. Cold weather brings about a lot of trials and tribulations, but personally that takes the cake for me.

I hope if you’re in a place that is hellishly cold this week (as most of the U.S. seems to be at the moment) that you’re doing your best to stay warm, stay well and (for the love of GOd) stay inside. When you do have to go out, remember: layering is caring.

It’s playlist day and I’m pretty excited about this week’s mix. There was one song that was an indisputable choice: Elastic Heart by Sia. Although it’s ultra-contemporary music video been plastered all over the pages of the internet, some of you may not have seen it yet. If you’re as intrigued as I was, then a few google searches about what Sia says the song are about will serve you well.*

*Also if you were a shameless watcher of Dance Moms like I was get ready because the infamous Maddie is alongside Shia Labeouf in the video and she absolutely slaaaaaays.

I’m still so mesmerized by the whole thing. I’ll probably watch it again riiight…now. Enjoy!

2015 | Monday Playlist

NYPL

If I didn’t know it was 2015 before this morning, I do know now that I have experienced the new wave of people at the gym at 5AM. Trying to get an eliptical machine this morning was the closest I’ve ever come to fighting for my life.

Happy first Monday of 2015! May this playlist help get you through your first day back into routine and normalcy.

Lift List | Monday Playlist (and BEY)

liftlist

Being a gym rat is tough. I joined last week so, you can imagine how impactful my 3 visits since then have been. Maybe gym rat isn’t the right word…not even close. But hey, fake it ’til you make it. Right guys? Right?

That being said, this week’s playlist is a gym playlist. It’s a change from what I normally lean towards, but trust me when I say that it will give you a little extra umph during that last rep of squats. Pro tip: if you’re using a barbell that’s under 50 pounds try to keep composure (because I use a 30 pound weight and often look like I’m trying to lift the hand of God).

There is only one song I wanted to add to this but couldnt and I think we all already know what that is: Beyonce’s new jam 7/11. There’s some mixed feelings buzzing around about the new song/the video but my feelings are as follows:

Bey can have fun if Bey wants to. Her video was obvi her + her crew playin’ in a hotel room. No need to get butthurt about Bey releasing a personal video that was just a fun way to put out her song–not to win awards. Let’s be real–who does the queen need to impress after all of those TOP NOTCH videos on the visual album. If anything, this video makes her further one of my favorite people on this planet. Look at her not giving a single care about what you think about her. ALSO LOOK AT THAT BOOOOTY. Don’t make me throw MY HANDS UP. (Video below)

Sundown| Monday Playlist

SUNDOWN

Well daylight savings time is in effect; the days get shorter and the light gets less and less. This can only mean one thing: winter is coming.

Just kidding it can mean other things too like:

  • The holiday season is upon us
  • I was in a better mood today when I remembered I got an extra hour of sleep
  • I’ll feel a lot more validated getting into bed at 8pm because it’ll seem “late”

Regardless, it’s Monday and no matter what time it is where you are it’s certainly time for a playlist. Went with mellow vibes for this week. Check it!

Gust | Monday Playlist

Well we’ve made it to Halloween week. The week when cobwebs are acceptable, being spooked is the norm and… Christmas music has started to play in three too many stores already. I can’t even talk about the commercials that have already started airing.

ONE HOLIDAY AT A TIME, AMERICA, COME ON.

Monday playlist this week is upbeat to keep you moving through this eerie week. Halloween is next weekend, so if you’re still trying to figure out your costume hopefully this list can get you through your fierce brainstorming sesh about how you’ll achieve being the most cleverly decked out at your upcoming masquerade.

(Pro tip: Marco YOLO is a great route to go).

Enjoy!

Milan | Monday Playlist

milan

Day 2 of Milan is today! We’re on the hunt for the city’s best vintage shopping and  a winning apertivo (aka my favorite part of Italian culture).

This weeks playlist is upbeat and perfect for exploring cities you’ve never been to before. Also…I shamelessly included Queen Bey because, really, what playlist is complete without her?

…Especially when you’re seeing her+Jay Z in Paris next weekend.

Shift | Monday Playlist

shift
There are a lot of shifts in the midst of happening right now: a shift of season, a shift of city, a shift of job, a shift of social circle, a shift of comfort zone, a shift of burrito joint..

Where there is shift there is change all around and what I’ve learned though all my times of shifting is that it’s best to welcome the shift with open arms and adapt to it. Why be afraid of the new? Because you were comfortable with the old?

New is scary, but it’s far from impossible. Run at it with open arms and see where the wind blows you. Who knows where you’ll end up?

This weeks playlist is here! Enjoy!

I’m not sure how much blogging I’ll get in this week, but hopefully I’ll get at least one more post up before Europe.

Have an amazing week & speak to you soon!
