A few weeks ago on Aimee’s , Song of Style, Instagram I experienced love at first site. They were a pair of white heeled sandals that laced up the front of their ankle band, were about 3 inches high, and were the most perfect shoes I’d ever seen. Ever since then I’ve been on high alert, shoe stalking them on Pinterest and all the other fashion outlets I could find.

Finally I discovered that they were by an Australian shoe brand called Senso, who I probably should’ve heard of before now but hadn’t, so I decided to venture over to the website. I was curious to see if they were a one hit shoe wonder or if other things they designed were just as perfect as my sandal crush. It was the latter. I’ve made a huge mistake.

Admittedly, my summer shoe selection often hails from Targét.

Why did she put that stupid accent mark? I hated it as much as you did, let’s just move on.

Anyway, Target. I usually snag a few pairs here and there to make it through the summer, but this year I’m thinking it would be more worth my time to invest in one pair and ride out all of the hot months we’ve got coming up.

Senso shoes are available on the Senso website, as well as on Solestruck, Revolve Clothing, Asos, and a lot of other places. Take a trip to Google town if you need more info on that.

Shoes | Spring 2014

If we’re being totally honest, I’m a little bit afraid of the Birkenstock trend that seems to be gracing the feet of fashion mavens internationally. There is something delightfully tacky about it all, but the charm isn’t irresistible enough for me to hop on the foot bareing bandwagon. Instead, I’d opt for something like these Acne Aimi Peach sandals. I think they hit similar notes of the Birkenstock, but are way more up my alley. The nude color means that these sandals, theoretically, will go with every outfit in my closet aaaaand therefore I really don’t need any other shoes, right?

Things I love about these sandals:

  • Chunky heel – walking and comfort both become easier to come by.
  • Croc Print – because who wants to risk their life (and credit score) getting me the real thing.
  • Double buckle – My ankle is secure AND the hardware is gold? Topshop gets me.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are the Rag and Bone Kent Desert Sneakers. They’re made of leather and look comfy as hell, so you can bet your bottom dollar that they are all I want to wear when I’m trotting around town in the warmer months.

Do I really need to elaborate further than saying “PINK. ZARA. BOOTS.”? Because I don’t think I even do.bb437958-ed0e-4f3c-995d-a887f2b51b20

Alexander Wang made a white leather loafer, and all the Lord’s people said “Amen.” I’m really attracted to the shape of this shoe because I know it would work with pants, shorts, and skirts. I think it’s masculine enough while still retaining some femininity with the pointy toe. Super clean and super versatile, A. Wang Hilary’s are what spring is about.

Because I’m really trying hard at this “young professional” thing, I thought it might be reasonable to include a more conservative shoe. Wide ankle strap = no blisters for this mamasita. I’m not trying to grimace as I walk down the street. Hell hath no fury like a woman in shoe pain.  Thanks, Sam Edelman (also, is it “E-dell-man” or “Edel-man” because I just really don’t know, ya’ll).

SHR3-0765STI_white_hero_0The grand finale, as it should be, is a 3.1 Phillip Lim. Check out those sexy, strappy puppies. I love how this shoe is glamourous and practical at the same time. I think it’d be just as easy to pull it off on the street as it would at a resort. My birthday is in 4 days so whoever mails the first pair to me gets an entire cake, okay? Okay.

Spring Dreams

SpringAs far as Tennessee winters go, this one really takes the cake for being a weather roller coaster. One minute it’s winter, the next: spring. Cold then warm. Sun then snow. I can’t take it. I’m not usually one for beckoning spring early, but this year I am praying that mother nature brings a quick, painless transition into the season of green and doesn’t pull any funny business with, say, an April blizzard.

On top of my dreams of eating fresh bruschetta on restaurant patios and blossoming trees making my neighborhood look like a painting, I really just want to have the option to wear lighter layers again. Coats are great, but this girl is tired of the limited range of motion that comes with wearing 2 of them. I just want to be able to bend my arms like a free woman should.

Spring Dreams Since getting back from Europe, I’ve been feeling the need for a wardrobe overhaul. Ideally, this spring, my style takes a leap towards tomboy and feminine at the same time. Hard and soft is a combination I’ve always been a fan of, but this year I really want to shoot for pairing the dainty clothing with the structured, more masculine pieces I have. Fingers are crossed that I look Parisian and not like my closet and pajama drawer are the same thing.
