There are few things worse than a cold toilet seat first thing in the morning. I mean it was hard enough for me to get up, let alone for me to sit on an unrelenting throne of ice for an excruciatingly long few seconds. Cold weather brings about a lot of trials and tribulations, but personally that takes the cake for me.
I hope if you’re in a place that is hellishly cold this week (as most of the U.S. seems to be at the moment) that you’re doing your best to stay warm, stay well and (for the love of GOd) stay inside. When you do have to go out, remember: layering is caring.
It’s playlist day and I’m pretty excited about this week’s mix. There was one song that was an indisputable choice: Elastic Heart by Sia. Although it’s ultra-contemporary music video been plastered all over the pages of the internet, some of you may not have seen it yet. If you’re as intrigued as I was, then a few google searches about what Sia says the song are about will serve you well.*
*Also if you were a shameless watcher of Dance Moms like I was get ready because the infamous Maddie is alongside Shia Labeouf in the video and she absolutely slaaaaaays.
I’m still so mesmerized by the whole thing. I’ll probably watch it again riiight…now. Enjoy!
Well we’ve made it to Halloween week. The week when cobwebs are acceptable, being spooked is the norm and… Christmas music has started to play in three too many stores already. I can’t even talk about the commercials that have already started airing.
ONE HOLIDAY AT A TIME, AMERICA, COME ON.
Monday playlist this week is upbeat to keep you moving through this eerie week. Halloween is next weekend, so if you’re still trying to figure out your costume hopefully this list can get you through your fierce brainstorming sesh about how you’ll achieve being the most cleverly decked out at your upcoming masquerade.
HOLY SMOKES have things been busy over here on the west coast or what.
Just as fall has been making it’s slow-but-steady appearance here in Seattle, the ever increasing amount of dots on my iphone’s calendar continue to hastily pop up. I have had a jam packed schedule that has been more spontaneous and unpredictable than normal (with the exception of Saturday brunch, because let’s be honest…you can always count on brunch with me) but I’m definitely not complaining. With each new day comes a new adventure, and what better way is there to live than that?
Monday playlist is here and I urge you to blast it on your morning commute. Beat those blues, ya’ll.
I’ve got Europe photos to share and cool places in Seattle to rant about. RLTC is back for fall, babay.
There are a lot of shifts in the midst of happening right now: a shift of season, a shift of city, a shift of job, a shift of social circle, a shift of comfort zone, a shift of burrito joint..
Where there is shift there is change all around and what I’ve learned though all my times of shifting is that it’s best to welcome the shift with open arms and adapt to it. Why be afraid of the new? Because you were comfortable with the old?
New is scary, but it’s far from impossible. Run at it with open arms and see where the wind blows you. Who knows where you’ll end up?
This weeks playlist is here! Enjoy!
I’m not sure how much blogging I’ll get in this week, but hopefully I’ll get at least one more post up before Europe.
As everyone is I’m sure aware by this point in the day, it’s Tuesday (or rather, for some of you, it was). Things have been so crazy the last few weeks that I’ve had to step back from blogging a little to focus on me and what I’ve got going on right now. Last week was vacation (and a side step away from the grid) and this week I’ve started my new life in Seattle and my new job! I can’t wait to update what’s been going on, but for noww… how’s a playlist sound?
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I moved into my house in Nashville. I can’t believe it’s already been five years since I moved away from my home state of Arkansas to start a completely new chapter of life that has shaped me more than I can explain. College, friends, people who introduced me to hot chicken.. it’s been a doozy. Although this won’t be my sappy “I’m going to miss you Nashville,” post you can rest assured that one will be coming at some point in the next few weeks. Why? I’ll tell you.
For those of you who don’t know, in a few weeks I’ll be uprooting from this amazing town I’ve been calling home and relocating to the pacific northwest. Seattle! There are a lot of things on the horizon for me and it’s just a move I know I need and want to make. It’s certainly not that I’m hot happy in Nashville, I love it here; Everything just fell into place so quickly and seamlessly and there has never been better time for relocating. I’m so excited for a new wind of creativity and inspiration; a regular diet of coffee and poutine (thanks canada); and new people and experiences that await me.
Before I get there, though, I’ve got a trip to the beach in two weeks and a trip to europe in a month. This playlist is called countdown for more reasons that I can even explain. So here it is! Monday playlist: Countdown.
It’s Monday again and that means it’s new music day again! Making these playlists is something I genuinely look forward to because not only do I get to show you guys (potentially) new bands, but I get to seek some out for myself. I usually try out the playlist for a week before I launch it live on here, and this one is no exception. In fact, based on that one week trial, this one may be one of my favorite one’s I’ve ever published. (That may or may not be based solely on the fact that Ryan Gosling’s band is the first track. I’m serious. Google “Dead Man’s Bones.”)
(…Also be careful googling that because your results might be weird).
It’s officially the second week of July, so here’s to nearing the dog days of summer. I wish that meant:
A) Free puppies!
B) There is no other choice!
But what it means instead is that things are about to get a little toasty here in the southern United States. Now would be a great time to start hydrating, allowing yourself more time than normal to walk places, getting milkshakes more frequently and warning your friends that it’s hot so you’ll be reaching “hangry”* status more quickly than normal.
*hangry: hane•gry, adj- being so hungry that you are visibly upset. “Lauren had to wait to sit down at the pizza restaurant for dinner, and impatiently watching everyone else crunch their piping hot crust made her hangry.”
Here’s this weeks playlist! Stay cool! (Literally)
The day is finally here! While there are still a few last minute preparations to go, my flight for Spain leaves this afternoon! I’ll be there for 10 days and I am beyond excited about seeing a new place and experiencing a new culture.
Naturally, for the plane ride I needed a playlist. Fly with me!
Next time I speak to you all, I’ll be in Madrid! Have the best Monday.
