Thursday

What a week it is been. As you may have gathered from my lack of posts–it’s been incredibly busy. Between jobs and packing up my house and preparing for upcoming trips I haven’t had a whole lot of time to take a breather, let alone take my camera out for an adventure.

I’m incredibly grateful for these times in my life because they are when magic happens. In the midst of the buzz and the quick conversations and iphone calendar reminders and the meetings that feel like client speed dating…things start to happen. Pieces come together that have been in limbo until now and you start to realize how working hard is going to start paying off.

Leaps of faith and dreams and things are more than just the initial jump, but the journey before and after them. Leaps of faith are what keep life exciting, and no matter how scary they may seem at the time–remember that whether succeed or fail they will be worth it in the long run.

Hopefully I’ll have some more exciting photos for you all soon! Cincinnati next weekend, the beach next month, europe, and..other things on the horizon. Things are about to get real interesting.

Speak to you soon!

Two Weeks Until Takeoff

Two Weeks Until Takeoff

I’m certain a trip never seems further away than it does as you inch closer and closer to the departure date. The preparations have started, as premature as that may sound. I’ve been scoping out markets, Instagram hunting for must-see cafes and boutiques and doing my best to reconcile my  relationship with the Spanish speaking skills I took for granted in high school. (So far I have a lot of confidence in never forgetting words like “sangria” and “tapas”…the basics, if you will).

If you’ve been and have suggestions, drop me a comment below! I’d love your suggestions!

As I’m sure everyone knows by now, today is Cinco de Mayo! There could not be a more  appropriate holiday to be celebrating in the midst of this countdown. So grab your friends, a margarita (on the rocks with salt for me) and a set of fiesta speakers; here is your monday playlist:

Shoes | Spring 2014

If we’re being totally honest, I’m a little bit afraid of the Birkenstock trend that seems to be gracing the feet of fashion mavens internationally. There is something delightfully tacky about it all, but the charm isn’t irresistible enough for me to hop on the foot bareing bandwagon. Instead, I’d opt for something like these Acne Aimi Peach sandals. I think they hit similar notes of the Birkenstock, but are way more up my alley. The nude color means that these sandals, theoretically, will go with every outfit in my closet aaaaand therefore I really don’t need any other shoes, right?

Things I love about these sandals:

  • Chunky heel – walking and comfort both become easier to come by.
  • Croc Print – because who wants to risk their life (and credit score) getting me the real thing.
  • Double buckle – My ankle is secure AND the hardware is gold? Topshop gets me.

These, ladies and gentlemen, are the Rag and Bone Kent Desert Sneakers. They’re made of leather and look comfy as hell, so you can bet your bottom dollar that they are all I want to wear when I’m trotting around town in the warmer months.

Do I really need to elaborate further than saying “PINK. ZARA. BOOTS.”? Because I don’t think I even do.bb437958-ed0e-4f3c-995d-a887f2b51b20

Alexander Wang made a white leather loafer, and all the Lord’s people said “Amen.” I’m really attracted to the shape of this shoe because I know it would work with pants, shorts, and skirts. I think it’s masculine enough while still retaining some femininity with the pointy toe. Super clean and super versatile, A. Wang Hilary’s are what spring is about.

Because I’m really trying hard at this “young professional” thing, I thought it might be reasonable to include a more conservative shoe. Wide ankle strap = no blisters for this mamasita. I’m not trying to grimace as I walk down the street. Hell hath no fury like a woman in shoe pain.  Thanks, Sam Edelman (also, is it “E-dell-man” or “Edel-man” because I just really don’t know, ya’ll).

SHR3-0765STI_white_hero_0The grand finale, as it should be, is a 3.1 Phillip Lim. Check out those sexy, strappy puppies. I love how this shoe is glamourous and practical at the same time. I think it’d be just as easy to pull it off on the street as it would at a resort. My birthday is in 4 days so whoever mails the first pair to me gets an entire cake, okay? Okay.

Speak to you all soon
